saoirse42 came over last weekend and helped out with some garden maintenance and seed starts for the coming months. We managed to get the front plot weeded and rid of dead plants (cantaloupe, cucumber & pole beans all came out), the back plot's "empty nests" turned over with some nice Starbucks grounds ("See Ma, Starbucks *is* good for something!") and 4.5 seedling trays planted. We also got two of the three lettuse beds re-seeded - one of them with the greens seeds that SoMa brought back from her trip to Italy! - and they are already sprouting!

*happy dance*

Knowing that 'Fres-burg' tends to have a mild start to its winters, we took some chances with the seeds we put out to seed:

Broccoli de Rapa
Broccoli
Brussels Sprouts
Scarlet Nantes Carrots

Parsnips

Sugar Snap Peas (actually seeded from the last crops pods about two weeks ago and ready to transpant to their climbing posts)

Variety of lettuce (SoMa's Italian seed, red leaf, butter, etc.)

Fava Beans

Pole Beans

Turnips

Still in the garden from the last planting, we have:

Jalepeño Pepper
Anaheim Pepper
Cheyanne Pepper

Swiss Chard plant
Regular Chard plant
Roma Tomatoes
(OK, sstormwatch  and I both know these aren't really Roma's but that was what the seedling containers said so I have no clue as to what we both *actually* have....*chuckle*)
Strawberry (three varieties, including the one that sstormwatch  gave me!)
Black Bell Eggplant
Savoy Cabbage
Turnip Greens
Butternut Squash (barely hanging in there and only *just* producing some small fruits)

Buttercup Squash (still has one or two squash coming in, but the vines are starting to die down from the root-end out)

Straight Necked Squash (two small plants, with one half-developed fruit at this point)

Crook Necked Squash (a few flowers and a developing fruit still hanging in there)
Giant Zucchini (still going - if slowly -thanks !)
Cucuzzi Caravazzi (simply MAD amount of folliage, with only one fruit harvested thus far - these take a lot of space. It seems they may *finally* be fruiting more now that the weather is cooling...)

Left-overs from last years ‘herb’ garden - and *still* kicking!:

Anaheim Pepper plants

Anaheim

Golden Sage

Oregano

Rosemary

Lavender

Chives

Brandywine Tomato
Yellow Tomato

Leeks
Green Onions

I know I am forgetting some stuff...but at least I got a basic list down!

We did start ours from seed - but I am a babe in the woods when it comes to gardening so I didn't even know (until now) that it took them so long to mature.

No tricks, just dumb luck apparently!

Hmmph! Not a lot of gardening luck over here right now. Not too bad, you understand, but not all easy-peasy super-abundant harvests, either.
