Stephen Jacobson has an amazing eye for composition! BTW - the English womans costume that claughter713 is wearing here is based on your pattern (which we pimped at our costume workshop for this group). ;)

This picture does an amazing job of capturing just how lovely this event was and how nice it was to spend time with friends; both old and new!

Looks like you had better weather on the West Coast than we did on the East Coast! We had a soggy Saturday at Marching Through Time. But Sunday was brilliant.

The whole weekend was brilliant; we had lovely sea fog/mists in the morning the cleared by 9ish each day to soft sunshine and light winds. It was beautiful!

If this is the same event that has gone by the name of School for the Rennaissance Soldier, my Hauptmann went out a couple years ago (three?). He's still talking about what a good time he had with you guys.

We had brilliant spring weather Sunday, in the 60s, light breeze, and brilliant sun. If only Saturday had been as glorious. =P

Ah yes! I believe he went the year before I started attending (this was SRS 2011, Actions in the Low Countries is simply the 'campaign' name). Spring is always such a variable time of year, never know if you're going to get showers or glorious blue skies. *chuckle*

How do you cope, if I can ask, in California, in wool dresses based on clothing worn during a mini-ice-age? It's one of the things I've never quite got about things that side of the pond.

First it depends on the weight of the wool being used. But honestly, wool is not 'hot', it is a fabric that breathes quite well and can act as a swamp cooler, wicking sweat away from your body and then allowing breezes through that cool you.

I have worn nothing but wool dresses for over 10 years in all kinds of heat and never had a problem. *shrug*

As usual beautiful photos, and I am yet again asking myself why I don't make the time to attend one of these events!

Clearly you are missing the memo's full of hot chick, beer and gambling action. Or maybe you got them, and read the fine print that includes getting up early and marching. *grin*

At any rate, you really SHOULD come out! The event just keeps getting better and better. We had our own little 'Workshop in the Woods' this year with lead ball casting, charcloth making, tactical troop movement discussions, period clothing and food talks....

You'd think every 16th C., West Coast snob within driving distance would hie themselves there...just sayin...

;)
