MA Program Prep - Step by Step for Application Process

Deadline for Fall 2009 Masters program application for California State University, Fresno – June 1, 2009. Things I need to get done, per the online handbook:

 

1. GRE testing – next two months (the test scores take a month to process)

2. Hunt down folks for reference letters, to be sent directly to the graduate coordinator in the history department:

Victor Davis Hanson – faculty, CSUF History Department (author@victorhanson.com- need to compose an e-mail message letting him know who I am, and some basics about how er know each other along with the request. Might want to mention that I married a "neighbor" of his family in Selma...*grin*).

David Davenport – former faculty, FCC History Department ( davidpauldavenport@yahoo.com already agreed, need to send him an e-mail to get him working on this)

John Kendall - faculty, CSUF History Department (john_kendall@csufresno.edu - RETIRED in 2001, I  need to ping his old CSUF account to see if he still get's mail there.)

3. Get transcript copies – I still have copies of my sealed CSUF transcripts, I wonder if they will take these or if I need “new” ones?

4. Apply to CSU, Fresno Graduate Admissions Department (they will pass application to history dept)

5. Write 2-3 page typed paper outlining my preparation for graduate studies in history and my reasons for pursuing a graduate degree in history, submit directly to the graduate coordinator in the history department along with letters of reference.
