I have a large group of close family members who are pretty right-wing reactionary: Pro-pro-pro gun, anti-anti-anti government. I remember when I used to think it was a hoot when they said that they would be ready for the day that the people of this country rebelled against their political leaders.

I don’t laugh so much anymore.

I do have to say, my one bright spot is here: www.jeffersonhour.org

I listen to Clay’s broadcasts regularly and hold ‘salons’ on a monthly basis to talk political/artistic/social talk with a group of 10-20 of my friends. We are from all over the map politically, but we manage to get along when it comes to discussing the things that ail this country.

That alone should scare a group of leaders that seem to depend on our divided nature to keep us in line.

I read this flyer at a local gun store. It listed the seven phases of society and something about us being in the seventh age, the one before collapse. I thought it was just some doomesday bullshit until I saw that it was written by an ancient Greek philosopher. But it was so accurately describing us, right now.

The path ahead seems pretty clear cut. Either a) we are going to go on in the same fashion and probably end up where Rome did (only much sooner, and with less fun parties along the way) or b) we are going to do some sort of radical reformation of our process and country and it won’t be the same place we all grew up in anymore.

Maybe “b” would be a nice change brought about by the election process as was designed by our original founders, or maybe we will all be joining some sort of pro-government youth movement – “Have a nice brown shirt darling, it’s good for you!”.

My optimistic nature hopes it's not too late for "b" as designed by our founders. I seriously fear the latter; I've never been good with any kind of conformity.
