Hi, I'm a SCAdian, 15th century German persona, and a knitter and want to knit this hat so badly! My friend [livejournal.com profile] alysten pointed to it. My husband might actually even wear it, the garb butterfly 16th century travelling Cossack that he is. So, where did you find it? What kind of yarn is it knitted from? stitches/rows per inch or per cm?

It looks like the moose was made separately and attached somehow, but it's hard to tell. The background is seed stitch, and is a great example of purl stitches before 1600 (a lot of people still think they didn't know how to purl back then.)
