Now THAT Is Punk As Fuck...

Look at these young ruffians; who the hell let them get armed and organized?

*shakes head in disbelief*

The Early Days of das Schwarz Faehnlein; Blackpoint Faire, Navato, CA

Left to Right: Conn MacLir, Tony Swatton, Tom Moon, Chris Cook, David Forrest, Martin Young, Scott Moore, Jeff Schroeter,Carl Ontis, Don Smith

I believe this was from the Old Camp, out in front of the gates to the Faire itself.

A merrier, swankier and more vicious group of scalliwags and crooks, harlots and bastards was never seen to walk the earth. I have the very great honor of knowing many of them.

;)

OMG, look at that thatched roof! *squees*

Damn I wish our faire would get a hard site already. *le sigh*

[identity profile] hsifeng.livejournal.com 2011-08-18 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! Sadly all this lovely hard-built structure is gone, gone, gone. The original front gate was demolished decades ago to make more room for the event (I believe this was back when they expanded for tourney field?) and of course the whole of Blackpoint has been bulldozed for years as well now (much to the sadness of many old time CA faire goers and participants).

I’ll keep my fingers crossed in hopes that you guys get a hard-structure site!

Well, so there's this: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=204462509039735363243.000499d94905ee8868142&msa=0&ll=38.103106,-122.506979&spn=0.012968,0.019205
If you view it in Google Earth, you can use the historic imagery feature to look at it in 1995, I want to say. Unfortunately, that imagery isn't available on plain ol' Google Maps though.

OK, I have it called up on Google Earth but cannot figure out how to find the historical imagery feature.

*points at self*

Techno-tard. *sigh*

[identity profile] jewelrose.livejournal.com 2011-08-19 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
but then again, Mike would have been dressed a little better... ack..

[identity profile] hsifeng.livejournal.com 2011-08-19 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Rose Kahn has the guy in the gold marked as Martin Young...hum...I don't know Mike or Martin so I certainly couldn't say myself! *chuckle*

By 'the calendar' I am assuming you mean the Hot Ladies of St. Michael's calendar that I think Grieg has posted bits of before? *grin*

[identity profile] claughter713.livejournal.com 2011-08-19 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard of this - would love to see a copy of it

[identity profile] hsifeng.livejournal.com 2011-08-19 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I know Grieg has posted some photos at some point...lemme see what I can dig up...

Ah yes...here we are (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1681270906676&set=a.1083151034053.2014563.1084657124&type=1&theater/)...

[identity profile] scott moore (from livejournal.com) 2011-08-22 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
That's actually the second one. It was an 18 month calendar put together from northern and southern photoshoots. PaulaP deserves the credit for that.

The first was 12 months and featured northern girls of St Michael's - english, seadogs and frauen.

[identity profile] hsifeng.livejournal.com 2011-08-22 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Good lord, I remember joking about putting a calendar like this together waaaaay back in the mists of time when I was in charge of an English guild; it never happened but it seems to have been a trend at faire around that time. *grin*

You know, I was at Northern in those years - it's entirely possible that the idea to do the calendar came about because I was exposed (*chortle*) to the one that St. Michael's did...

Old Camp #2 Circa 1986. This was the original entrance gate to faire, but at the time of this photo, front gate was about 75 yards further down so we were well behind the actual gate. Pigfarkers were before the entrance, but pigs cot had not been built.

Oh and all I know about that building coming down is that on the last tear down at that camp, as I was far, far away and never saw what happened, I heard a distant rumble and a hearty "Noch Wieter!".

If I recall (before my time), old camp #1 was Carl and crew hanging out in front of the gate.

Camp #3 was the one further up the serpentine and was the last St Michael's camp.

So, yeah, this is why I don't tease new folks about clothes. But this also gives proof that my Ledergollar is older that all'y'all

But this also gives proof that my Ledergollar is older that all'y'all…

*chuckle*

When we’re out at events these days and people start talking about how they’ve been doing faire since-dirt-was-rocks I love pointing to our tent (your old tent) and saying, “I am pretty sure that canvas has been around longer than you have son,”

*grin*

PS: Thank you for the info on the camp two location and demolition; By the time I came along the German’s were in the Serpentine. As Paco pointed out before, with the fiftieth anniversary of RPF coming around it is nice to be getting some of this information down in paper. *thumbs up*

They look awesome! Are they planning on fighting or bursting into a song-and-dance number?

[identity profile] hsifeng.livejournal.com 2011-08-23 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
*bursts out laughing*

You know, I am pretty sure that they were/are equally capable of both actions.

;)
