Something about Edwardian dresses tends to do that - I remember two specific occasions where we had four or more people hand-whipping trim onto an Edwardian net gown less than an hour before curtain rise on opening night. Must be something about them.
The garment district prices have gone up in general, partly because of a run on cotton (Pakistan, mudslides, lost a crop) and some sort of kerfluffle with China over silk. So in general, yeah. Also the economy sucks, and that doesn't help - everyone is being much more careful about what they buy to re-sell, and the sales are evaporating.
